What time can students arrive at school?
      
Students should not be dropped off to school before 8:20 a.m. Students will not be permitted to enter the building until 8:25 a.m.  There is no adult supervision for students before this time.
 
What time do students get dismissed from school?

Students are dismissed from school at 3:30 p.m.
 
Is there a dress code for students at Breckinridge Middle School?

Do students need to have all supplies on the first day of school?

No, students do not need to have all supplies by the first day of school.  We encourage you to speak with your child's teacher to see what supplies will be needed on the first day, and first week, of school. 
 
When will students get their class schedules?

All students will receive their class schedule on the 1st day of school.
 
My child wants to play a team sport at the school. What does he or she need to participate?

Any student who wishes to participate in a team sport for the school will need to complete a VHSL Sports Physical form by a physician. Click here to download and print off a copy of the form.
 
Where can my child get his or her sports physical completed?

Sports physicals can be completed at any of the Teen Centers in Roanoke City, or by your child's family physician.

What documentation will 6th graders need by the first day of school?

All sixth grade students need to have documentation of their Tdap vaccine.  Sixth grade students will not be permitted to attend school until we have received documentation of their Tdap vaccine.  Please contact your local physician, or a Teen Health Center to get your child vaccinated.
 
What meals do the schools offer during the school day?

We offer breakfast and lunch during the school day.
 

Are electronic devices allowed in school?

No. If a student brings electronic devices to school, they need to be locked up in the student's locker to prevent theft.
 
What is the policy on a student being tardy?
 
Unexcused tardies will be given Silent Lunch.  Excessive tardies (10 or more) will be given After School Detention. Parents, please call if your child is going to be absent and send a note when they return; send a note if tardy.  Excused absences and tardies are:  illness, medical appointment verified by doctor's note, court appearance, death in family, religious holiday, field trip, and extenuating circumstances as determined by school administrator. How does my student get a Valley Metro Identification Card?

Roanoke City Public School middle and high school students who have not yet received either a school issued Photo Identification Card or a Valley Metro Photo Card can get one by visiting Valley Metro.  They need to present a current report card and a birth certificate or utility bill in order to be photographed.  This is for students between the ages of 15 and 18.

When does school start for the 2014-2015 School Year?

The first day of school for the 2015-2016 school year is Tuesday, August 18, 2015.
