We have finished our Physical Science Benchmarks and did reasonably well.  Our next topic will be Atomic Theory, which tends to be a difficult subject for the students.  Please make sure notes are being reviewed daily.

I really wanted to welcome everyone to the 2017-2018 school year. This year I am teaching 6th Grade Science, Life Science and Physical Science.  Here is what we are covering so far in each of my classes: 6th Grade Science:  We are currently learning about the scientific method and will be working with this topic for the next few weeks. Life Science: We are reviewing the scientific method and will begin our yearly pretest on Thursday, 9/14.  The test should be completed on Friday, 9/15. Physical Science: Physical Science students have reviewed metric conversions and are learning how to calculate density.  We will have a snapshot Friday, 9/15 over safety, metric conversions, and density.

Some students didn't perform to their expectation on the Fall Benchmark and I have opened my class to help them review the different materials they struggled with.  Please encourage your child to visit my room for additional help. Thank you! ?

Students are currently learning about cells and the organelles that make them up.  This always seems to be a difficult subject so it would help them to study their notes each night.

We will delve into the topic of matter beginning Thursday. We will be discussing and reviewing the phases of matter and the differences between an element, a compound, and a mixture. Students must be able to identify the physical and chemical properties. They must also be able to describe the differences between physical and chemical changes.
